Well Known Riddle VS Reality

Extension Cord Smarts

Starting to share with you some tips how to be safe and energy efficient at your home.

If the extension cord is too “thin” or too long, it can overheat and be a fire hazard. It may even damage⚡️ the appliance you're trying to power.

Calculate the type of extension cord you'll need.

📍How far is the nearest outlet from where you'll be working? Based on its gauge, an extension cord can power an appliance of a certain wattage only at a specific distance. As the cord gets longer, the current-carrying capacity of the cord gets lower. 📍For example, a 16 gauge extension cord less than 50 feet in length can power a 1625 watt appliance. A 16 gauge cord longer than 50 feet in length can only power appliances up to 1250 watts.

Powering multiple appliances? What's the total wattage?

📍Add the wattage ratings together for all appliances used on the cord to determine the gauge-size you'll need.

So, how many phones can you charge at once
